Description
tropical and subtropical worldwide (some can live in brackish water) elongated slender silvery body with large, pointed heads large-mouth, lower jaw projecting forward, with strong fanglike teeth, upper jaw non-protractile well-developed lateral line, presque rectiligne 2 small dorsal fins far apart, la seconde symetriq anale fin pectorales courtes (plus courtes que la tête) et insérée bas sur le corps caudale fourchue voracious predators of other fishes & cephalos speedy and dynamic, rapid swimmer young barracudas (or small species) often form schools, while large adults are usually solitary pelagic spawning in schools, nonguarders
